Fashion Week Faves Part II

Way back when I was a niña chinita my daddy worked in the fashion district in NYC. Every once in a while he would bring me to work; where we were often gifted samples or invited by the manufactures to come pick out what we liked.

Betsey Johnson was one of his clients and I fell in love at first sight. Her always eccentric, highly outrageous, fun and gorgeous clothes got my attention immediately. To this day her designs inspire me to step out of my comfort zone every once in a while; be bold with color and unafraid to get a little crazy sometimes.

This week she is my favorite thing & her spring 2011 line takes me back to those days with my dad & the excitement I had running through all those racks of gorgeous dresses!!

My Interpretations For Less….

The best thing about style is that you can play with it to suit your individuality. If a certain style isn’t for you then perhaps you can interpret it with your own spin. Work with the color in a different way or go with an asymmetrical shoulder instead of strapless.

The point is to get creative and try something new while still being true to yourself. Fashion Week for me is not about drooling over clothes I can’t afford or peaking in from the outside in envy – its about inspiration & creativity – a celebration of making it all work for me.

Style is a reflection of our personalities, so have fun with fashion its what clothes are all about!
